¿What is " Ajo Morado de Las Pedroñeras Protected Geographical Indication "?

The Ajo Morado de Las Pedroñeras Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) is a quality food seal recognized by the European Union, which provides our Purple Garlic an international protection that it did not have before, recognizing its prestige, reputation and uniqueness.

This quality seal distinguishes, in markets and before customers, the Purple Garlic obtained by producers in plots and manufactured by companies registered in the Indication registers.

With the quality seal IGP Ajo Morado de las Pedroñeras, we want, among other things, to protect and promote the Purple Garlic obtained in our territory, and, also, to give the producers and the marketing companies, a tool to increase sale volumes and to improve price levels.

To do so, both producers and companies, are committed to apply and develop production, handling, stocking and marketing techniques which could permit increase and improve the current food security levels.

This set of technical standards have been defined, agreed and approved by all the companies taking part in the Association of IGP Ajo Morado de Las Pedroñeras.

The closest challenges, but not more important than others not mentioned, are:

IGP Ajo Morado de Las Pedroñeras establishment:

The Association was established in Pedroñeras (Cuenca) on 18th March 2010. Promoters are companies and industries whose activity is related to the production, processing and commercialization of the garlic.

The IGP Ajo Morado de Las Pedroñeras association replaced the Regulatory Council Foundation and its board, which was responsible for the maintenance and management. The new entity has a unifying nature. It is distinguished for being interprofessional and for having parity of representation. This is a non-profit association with a dynamic government structure and dynamic management technics.
